I love all of the amazing adventures and experiences Tyleigh is having!
She got the opportunity to go to Peru! Incredible! I created this post 100% from what she sent to us while she was there, so it's in her own words! :)
"We woke up at 3:30 and squished in the tiniest car ever with our three big suitcases to go to the bus and then took the bus to San Jose. Then, we waited forever at the airport and this was the sunset! We ate SOOOO many sample chocolates cause they were everywhere and so yummy!"
"Here's our hostel!"
"This is the coca tea they had us drink when we got there."
"We keep saying it reminds us of Europe! Lots of alleys and stairs and cobblestone!"
"This is the Sun Temple/Coricancha. It's where they did ceremonies to worship the gods of the sun, moon, stars, earth, etc. They all had different little "rooms." The architecture was crazy! Some of the stones were wild and the way it was made was crazy!"
"This is from the same place."
"Also on the airplane, they gave us this as our complimentary snack and it was a sandwich, chocolate, and this yummy like vanilla cakey thing?
And then they gave us the big box of food when our flight got delayed!
We ended up traveling for 28 hours total and pretty much pulled two all nighters straight."
"This is called Saqsayhuaman and was probably our favorite part of the Cusco City tour! I think they used to hold parties here? It was so cold and I got distracted because of the rain, but it was beautiful. And he was breaking down the storms for us and that was super cool too!"
"This is from the the day we got there after pulling two full nighters, haha! Our guide gave us free time at the ruins and we saw alpacas and went and played with them forever and then regretted not using our time better to look at the ruins, but oh well! Haha! It was fun to see!"
"It was raining so hard at this one, so we were freezing, but it was beautiful and one of our favs! We went and explored for like 5-10 minutes after the alpacas! Lol!"
"Then we got tricked into drinking "altitude medicine" by this lady."
"Then we went to three more ruins that day."
"Then we went to dinner and tried alpaca burgers."
"This this is our friend we met through the tour and he took us around the city that night. He's the one cooking us guinea pig tonight and I'm dreading it! Haha!"
"This guy was playing the sax in this alley so the girls are started to dance."
"More of the city."
"It was Holli Day so there were soldiers and firefighters and all the people everywhereeeee.
Then we got home and found out there's no water at night, so we had no way of washing our face or hands or go to the bathroom or anything! Lol!"
"Then the next day we woke up and went to see this statue."
"People like this for photos are everywhereee. We also met a cool couple from Argentina up here! They asked us if they could take a pic for us and then we talked to them for a while."
"Then we went to this market for a little too long:) and shopped around. Haha! It was wilddd. So much random food and booths and packed as can be with as many booths as possible. There was disgusting meat everywhere, fruit stands/flour/rice, etc stands, souvenir stands, you name it. it was actually pretty gross. Me, Lizzy, and Sydney definitely wished we would've spent a little less time there and gone somewhere else, but it was fun to see! So crazy!"
"Then we went to McDonald's to get Lizzy food and we got McFlurrys with a Peruvian treat in them, which was fun to try."
"Then we met up with our friend again and we tried to get dinner, but ended up going to this dance place without him instead and then went to dinner after. It was cool because all of the dances and music had a different story behind them that they shared."
"Then the next morning we woke up early to go on our tour and the first stop was an alpaca wool place. So they taught us from the very first step all the way to making a blanket, how the process worked and how they did it. All the little things with the yarn is what they use to create each color. It was actually super cool to learn about! And then they had a bunch of things we could buy like sweaters and blankets, etc. And also peep the guinea pig cage in the back! So awful!"
"This was the first ruin we stopped at. It was called Chinchero. So pretty and green!"
"Then we went to this place where you could sample chocolate and salt from the salt mines. It was actually all super yummy! But the salt mines got cancelled, which we were sooo sad about!
"This is called Moray and it's the agriculture thing I was telling you guys about."
"Here's our tour group."
"Then we went and saw the start of the Amazon and the Andes."
"Not my best pics, but oh well! Haha! We went to a buffet after that was super fancy food and tried just about every food possible! Haha! That's the cuy with the weird organs hanging from it that I instantly spit out! Haha!"
"I didn't eat the organs. Don't worry! Haha! But I spit the meat out."
"Then we went here, but I couldn't tell you anything about it because our guide gave up on speaking English for us. lol!"
"We climbed up and the view was soooo pretty!"
"There were tons of markets at the bottom."
"Here's the train we took to the base of Machu Picchu through the Andes. It was beautiful! This is Dario, the 16 year old from Mexico that we met.
We talked for two straight hours and even got serenaded."
"They also did this cool like Peru performance? It was fun!"
"When we got to aguas calientes, we ate at a restaurant that charged us soo much money for water and we weren't happy cause we didn't want it. Haha! But then when we got to our hotel it was pitch black and we woke up to this view of the Andes and it was sooo pretty!"
"Then we woke up and got ready and walked around some shops and then this is us waiting in the lobby for our guide to come pick us up and we were sooo giddy and excited to go!"
"And then we drove home and got home sooo late and woke up at 3 to leave for our hike the next morning. Aha - nothing like 2 hours of sleep! It literally felt like boot camp cause of the way they were rushing us all morning with our tour! Haha!
"They gave us hiking sticks to walk with! Haha!"
"This was a mile into the hike and that was the next mile to the very top of that mountain . . . it was 1300 ft. elevation gain in less than a mile."
"There were also horses everywhere walking people up."
Laguna Humantay
"The lake was sooo blue and the clouds were moving a ton so sometimes
we were able to see the mountain behind it."
"It's a legend thing at the lake to stack rocks to give thanks to Pachu Mama (Mother Earth), and I was just chillin stacking rocks for fun and a tour guide came and took my phone to take a pic. Lol!"
"And then we went home and that's when we had the cuy with Guiseppe."
"Then we woke up early and went to the airport and they surprised us with these dolls. Haha!"
"Andddd pictures from the hostel! Haha! Rens favorite pose ever is the one with our hands by our face and she kept making us do it! Haha!"
"Here's Guiseppe making the cut."
What an incredible experience for this girl!
