Delicate Arch in Moab

Rod, Camryn, Carsyn and I went to Moab this weekend so I could run in the half marathon. Tyleigh decided it didn't sound like so much fun to watch Mom run again, so she got to stay with Grams and Papa! What an amazing place Moab is! Utah never ceases to amaze me with all of it's natural wonders! It was the perfect time of year to visit - a little cool, but warm enough to enjoy everything! The race was awesome - I didn't set a personal record, but I met some fun people along the way, and didn't do too bad for a winter run! But, spending time with my girls and Rod and the hiking we got to do were even better! We stayed in a little cabin about nine miles outside of town, which the girls thought was the coolest thing ever. It was warm, and had a shower, and even a little kitchen! We visited Dead Horse Point the day we got there, and then while I was running, the girls and Rod played on a huge sand hill. After a quick shower, we spent the rest of our trip hiking in Arches National Park - if you've never seen Delicate Arch, you have got to go! It is so beautiful! On the hike up to the arch, Carsyn was desperate to see a lizard. We couldn't find one anywhere - that is until we got right up to the arch - where EVERYONE else was also. The lizard got startled and ran right under my foot. Carsyn yelled "Mom, you're stepping on it!" I told her I wasn't and shifted my weight on one foot so she could see - wouldn't you know that the foot I bore my weight on was indeed the foot the lizard ran under! I squished the little bugger, and to make matters 100% worse, the area around Delicate Arch echoes. Carsyn screamed "You killed the lizard mom!'' Oh great - remember, it's the place where everyone in Moab just happened to be right at that moment? Yeah, Carsyn will never forget that trip! 
After our little bit of trauma, we did enjoy the rest of our day, and even spent the next morning at Hole in the Rock - which is also very worth seeing at least once in your life. Who in the world thought of building an entire house and restaurant into a rock?!
