Madsen's Go to St. Thomas!

July 12 - Rod earned an incentive trip to St. Thomas! Heaven!

We decided to take the girls. We have always wanted them to experience traveling and to give them opportunities to see other parts of the world. We were so excited for them to be with us on this trip!

They did a great job entertaining themselves with Spot It at the airport!
Those are some excited faces!
The view from the plane had us all so excited!
We flew into St. Thomas really late, which gave us an opportunity to
experience the sunset from the plane.
This was all we could see from our balcony when we got to the hotel. No view of the ocean, and it looked like a big bleak nothing.
Carsyn was not happy, not to mention that she was HANGRY. It was a long travel day and I definitely did not anticipate the scarcity of snacks and food available to us. Lesson learned.
The road to our hotel was crazy and was not a road to walk on, and we did not have a car.
There weren't restaurants close by anyway.
The restaurants in the hotel were closing or closed, and we were too poor for room service! Haha! We finally got some food ordered and everyone settled in for the night.

July 13 - you can only imagine the excitement we all felt when we opened our blinds to this breathtaking view the next morning!

These girls couldn't get down to the beach fast enough!

The hotel property was so beautiful! The walkways, waterfalls, greenery - all of it - was Heaven!

They RAN down to the ocean! The water was SO warm and the sand was so soft!

The girls played ALL day. They played in the sand, in the water, and hunted for seashells, snorkeled, body boarded, etc! It was like a dream come true to watch them find so much joy!

The hotel property was COVERED in iguanas - not one or two here and there. They were in herds! We tried to make friends with them.
They weren't big fans, so we tried our best to just go around them each day.

We attended a welcome dinner that night. We got our drinks in coconuts, which the girls loved!

I love how much these girls love an adventure and can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings!

Special

I often wonder what my life would look like without kids.
Boring, uneventful . . . I'd definitely be richer, but not nearly as blessed - or entertained!

I am so grateful to be your mom!

AF Half 2016

I hope to run this race on behalf of my dad and loved ones we've lost to cancer every year.
This year, I got to run with my sweet friend, Carrie. Her dad has the same type of cancer as mine. Another super special year to run!

Race results (just so I can feel cool one day when I'm old) - again, not my fastest race, but I will admit that I did NOT train for this one.

31 out of 162 in my age group.
111 out of 687 females.
201 out of 972 overall.
8:14 min/mi with a final time of 1:48:01.

Buraston Pond

Buraston Ponds has become somewhat of a summer tradition!
We love taking new friends there to experience it with us!

I think I have now said this about every single one of these drawings, but this is truly another one of my favorites! I love the colors, the details, and the three cute girls that drew this!
