Glamorous Girls

Could this be what we have to look forward to in the future with our glamorous daughters?!?
(Disclaimer: They did this to themselves with no encouragement or suggestions from any adults!)

Opinions (to go along with the Attitude)

So I have the winter blahs, and I needed a change - a little sunshine. I went and got my hair done - that usually makes me feel better. I asked my cute little stylist to color it - and really brighten it up - 'cause I really need some brightening right now. She did - and although I feel somewhat like a pineapple for a minute, it was just the sunshine I needed . . . then Carsyn saw it. We do try to teach our kids that honesty is the best policy, and I'm pretty sure that I want her to have an opinion about what she likes and dislikes in life . . . however, it would have been okay for her to lie just this once! Here are Carsyn's (many) opinions about my new look:
"Whoa, Mom! What did you do?!?!"
"Did you want it like that?"
"Did you ask her to do that to you?"
"Mom, you kind of look bald 'cause your hair is so light!"
"I don't really like it like that."
"Mom, did I tell you I think you are a lot prettier when your hair isn't like that?"
"Are you mad that she made your hair that funny color?"
"Aren't you going to do something to fix it Mom?"
"By the way, you look weird and REALLY dumb!"
. . . And I'll I could think to say was "Carsyn, didn't anyone teach you that if you can't say something nice, you shouldn't say anything at all?" So, if you see me, and you think I look like a pineapple/chiquita banana, or whatever, don't worry - 'cause so does Carsyn! I wonder if the pages will be flipped some day . . .

Attitude!

My little Carsyn has more personality (a.k.a. "attitude") than I know I what to do with! She came home from school the other day completely ticked off about something. She handed me this note and stomped up the stairs. I couldn't figure out what the front meant - it was a bunch of names from her class. Then Camryn told me to open it up - and this is what I got!

Apparently, Carsyn got in trouble for talking in class, so the names are a list of the kids in her class that she has declared as either enemies or friends, and the note is to let me know that she hates her class, but she doesn't want to leave her class! Is this kind of like the girls that laugh when they cry, and cry when they laugh? Rules are so mean! Doesn't the teacher know that Carsyn is exempt from rules?! I mean, seriously! Yep, I'm in trouble!!!

Inspiration

Here is a little inspiration and encouragement for the blah month of January! What a thought to start off the new year with! I was so uplifted by this! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it as well! (Pause my music!)

Drama . . .

I'm sure no one would ever guess that we would have drama at our house with three girls . . . yeah, well, we call our house "big drama, little drama and more drama!" We took the girls shoe shopping the other night for some new church shoes - I could end the post here, and I'm sure your imaginations can fill in the rest! Holy moly! When exactly did my daughters develop such opinions of what they "are into?!" Camryn explained in her disgusted eight year old voice (duh mom!) that she is only into "flats" and really prefers the American Eagle Brand . . . oh, reaaaalllly?! Carsyn, on the other hand, used to be so predictable. If it sparkled or had heels, she loved it. Little did I know! She is now into "skater-types of shoes and really doesn't think heels are cute!" Oookkkaaaayyy . . . how do we find appropriate church shoes with those characteristics?! Then there's Tyleigh. She has always been a little picky about the way things feel on her, but after seven stores, you would think we would be able to find something that worked! Wow! I'm positive that Rod and I walked away far more exhausted from the ordeal than the girls did, but after the torture, the tears, and the disapproving motherly statements, we all walked away mostly unscathed and happy - and with new shoes! I know, I know - just wait 'til their thirteen right?!?

Chuck-E-Cheese!

My baby girl decided to grow up on me! Being that she was my baby, I gave in to bad habits - like laying with her so she could fall asleep at night . . .which wasn't all her fault. I love reading books to her at night - but unfortunately, I fall asleep as soon as I'm in a vertical position, so every time I read books, I go to sleep right along with her - and the habit stuck! Rod and I decided it was time to knock this off - since she is four after all. We bribed her with everything we could think of, but she just wouldn't give in. Then out of the blue, she came in and said "I don't want anyone to sleep with me tonight. Now can I go to Chuck E Cheese?" She did it, and with a little extra bribery from Grams, she has stuck with it! She got to go to Chuck E Cheese, and even if the place was white trash, it was more than worth it! Way to go Ty!
