East Rim Trail

Nita invited me on a little weekend trip down to Zion National Park.
We got up super early to drive to Zion from St. George with the intention of hiking Angel's Landing, but the lot to Zion was full by 7:30 am!
So, we took the road less traveled and decided to hike the East Rim Trail.
We had no idea where it would lead to, so we just started hiking.
We saw way too many fresh cougar tracks, and laughed our heads off at the most random things.
We saw some other people and they said they were going to Stave Springs, so we decided to do the same. It sounded cool enough! We hiked 6.5 miles in and found out that Stave Springs is a PIPE!
We died laughing!  Stave Springs is really a trail as well, but we thought we were going to some great water feature, not a pipe. When I googled it, it specifically says "it is not a scenic destination." LOL! That would have been good to know! We hiked 6.5 miles out and found a herd of Bighorn sheep, which made the hike even better! We had a great, long - and slightly hilarious - adventure!

We went over to Grafton after our hike. It's a ghost town just outside of Zion National Park.  It was settled by only five families in 1859. It's a little creepy, but fascinating at the same time!

My adventures with Nita are always memorable and so fun!

Donut Falls

Rod and I are always looking for ways to make the holidays unique and memorable for our kids. As they get older, that becomes both easier and more difficult all at the same time!  This year, we decided to take our crew hiking to Donut Falls on Christmas Day.
It was seriously so much fun! The weather was absolutely beautiful
and it was so fun to see the falls frozen! This is something I hope we'll do more often!

Someone decorated one of the pine trees on the trail!
It added so much to the Christmas feel on our hike!

Tyleigh the mountain goat - always pushing the limits!
