Today we went to Mount Schilthorn!
We got so lucky because we were one of the last groups to go to Switzerland and it was technically supposed to be closed for the season. Our travel agents talked them into letting us attend so we didn't miss out! I'm so grateful!
You can see a trace of waterfall here - I'm guessing that it's incredible in the
Spring when the runoff is in full force!
Base jumping is a BIG sport here! I'd love to come back and try it!
The Schilthorn is a summit in Europe, in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. It overlooks the valley of Lauterbrunnen, and is the highest mountain in the range lying north of the Sefinenfurgge Pass. The Schilthorn lies above the village of Mürren, from where a cable car leads to its summit.
The cable car was so fun to ride in!
The bridge around Mount Schilthorn is called the "Thrill Walk," It is a high-wire suspended metal walkway around the mountain and is suspended almost 1000 feet above ground. You can see beautiful views of the surrounding mountains like the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau - if it's not foggy! We couldn't see much of anything! It is known well for clinging to the rock face with sections of glass flooring.
Not being able to see well below us made it more scary in some ways and less scary in other ways.
We had no concept of where the "bottom" was.
There is also a mesh structure attached to a rock face.
Rod and I both had to try this one!

The fog just wouldn't let up!
Mount Schilthorn became famous as a location for a James Bond movie filmed in 1969. There is a revolving restaurant at the summit, Piz Gloria, which rotates around its own axis once every 45 minutes. We ate lunch there. The revolution is noticeable, but is so slow that you don't get sick from it.

We explored the James Bond museum before eating lunch.
If you look closely, you can see that this is actually Rod's face!
After our time on Mount Schilthorn, we were given the choice to take the bus back to the hotel or continue to explore on our own.
Rod and I, along with some other people in our group, decided to keep exploring. We went to Trümmelbach Falls next.
This country is unreal. So beautiful.
Trümmelbach Falls consists of 10 glacier-waterfalls inside the mountain. They have been made accessible by a tunnel-lift and are illuminated. They are the only glacier-waterfalls in Europe that are inside of a mountain and are still accessible to visitors.

Our last stop for the day was the town of Lauterbrunnen.
Lauterbrunnen looked like a postcard. It was incredible.
We walked around Interlaken before going back to our hotel.
Seriously. I can't get enough of it here.
