Rod and I decided to take a quick and even kind of last minute anniversary trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for our 25th wedding anniversary. It's crazy to think we've been married for 25 years!
We stayed in a beautiful resort called La Estancia.
On our first full day there, we spent some time on the beach. It was so relaxing. We watched dolphins jump in the bay right in front of us, which was such a highlight for both of us!
That night, we boarded a "sunset cruise ship" and sailed to a private island, Las Caletas, to watch a show called Rhythms of the Night. We had a delicious dinner on the beach and then watched the show in an open-air amphitheater right in the middle of the jungle and under the stars! It was an incredible show with acrobats, dancers, fire, etc.!
On our second day there, we had a taxi take us to a little and extremely charming surf town called Sayulita. It was so fun to walk through! There was such a fun vibe there, and all we could talk about was how much the girls would love it there! It was one of the stops in the Amazing Race!
On our third day there, we booked a tour with Vallarta Adventures called the Extreme Adventure. It started off with a crazy speed boat ride to the Sierra Madre mountains. Then we rode in a Unimog 4x4 truck, followed by a muleback ride along a dirt road. We ziplined from hilltop to hilltop, rappelled down a waterfall into a natural river pool, and rode the Roller Coaster Zipline, which was definitely something we've never done before! It was so much fun! We ended with Mexico's highest water slide drop, and then got back on the speedboat to go home, which was quite the ride in and of itself! We had the funnest guides and as always, Rod made buddies with them, which only encouraged the teasing more! One of our guides scared the crap out of us with a stick - that we were sure was a snake! We loved every minute of it!
On the way back, the captain driving the speedboat took us to see Los Arcos National Marine Park. We didn't get out of the boat, but it was still really cool to see!
Our fourth day there was another relaxing beach day . . .
We got a couples massage that morning, and then spent the day on the beach. I just wanted a quick picture of Rod and I on the beach together and these two ladies decided to turn it into a whole photoshoot. We laughed so hard at all the poses and jumps the blonde one was having us do! The best part was that she never got her timing right on any of them, so the red haired one ending up taking the pictures. They were so fun that we had to get a picture with them! Rosie and Roxanne!
We walked along the beach to another fun town called Bucerias. We enjoyed looking at the flea markets there and seeing all of the fun colors and buildings.
Lastly, the hotel asked if we were there for a special occasion. We told them it was our anniversary so they surprised us with dessert one night at dinner. It was so fun!
We had an incredible time and were sad to leave, but we are always so happy to see our girls.
25 years hasn't always been easy, but we are so blessed to do it together!
