Rhine River Cruise Day 8 - Zaanse Schans and Volendam

On our last day of our trip, we went to an outdoor windmill museum in Zaanse Schans.  It is exactly what I pictured Holland would look like! It was like Gardner Village on steroids! We got to see the inside of one of the last working windmills. We also watched a shoemaker make a clog out of fresh piece of wood, which was fascinating!  We went to a cheese factory where we learned how they make all their different types of cheeses they eat here. They had sheep cheese, goat cheese, old cheese, young cheese, hard cheese, soft cheese, and cow cheese. I don't love cheese, but it was amazing to watch how much cheese people were buying to take home.  We watched how they care for their cows - they have a system that lets the cows choose when she wants or needs to be milked so it keeps the cows very relaxed and happy. I had to play with the baby cows for a minute - they are adorable!

Our last stop was my favorite town of the whole trip! Volendam. It was along the coast and had such a quaint and happy feel to it! So well taken care of and clean!

It has been such a fun trip, but we are definitely ready for home!

This wall was my FAVORITE! I loved all of the painted clogs!

So picturesque!

This workshop is where we watched the clog demonstration. It was amazing to watch how fast the guy whipped out a clog!

The cheese factory!

These babies were like giant dogs! So cute!

I tried to capture all of the bikes in this picture! It's insane how many there are!

I took a picture of this cute postcard because my goal is to get back to Holland during
the tulip festival someday!
We finished off the best day with ice cream with Matt and Natalie!
