Today, we sailed through the Rhine Gorge. It was incredible. There were castles EVERYWHERE! We learned so many cool facts about them and heard so many stories! It would be amazing to turn back time and see all of the stories in real time, although, I'm not sure it's a time I was meant to live in!
After we finally docked, we were in my favorite place so far - Rudesheim, Germany. It was a darling town! We rode a little train to the top of a hill, did a two mile hike from a monastery through a million grape vineyards, and then rode cable cars down into the town. We explored the town for several hours and found some fun shops and other interesting things to see!
This is the boat we were on - our friend on the other boat took this and sent it to us.
We looked a little trashed. It was early, cold and we were so tired!
This statue was said to be a siren that mislead ships.

This statue was HUGE. It is the Niederwalddenkmal Monument. It was built between 1871 and 1883 to commemorate the Unification of Germany. The right side of the monument is considered the "peace statue", while the left is considered the "war statue."
This hotel was so much fun! They had rooms made out of giant wine barrels!
On our way back to the ship, we saw another cool medieval castle. It now serves as a museum of wine and local history. There was a little concert happening right outside of it!
